The Cleveland Browns reportedly have a front-runner for their offensive coordinator position, and it's a coach from the Baltimore Ravens.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Ravens run-game coordinator Travis Switzer is considered the favorite for the offensive coordinator job under new head coach Todd Monken.
While the two sides have not met yet, Fowler says that will happen "soon."
"Ravens run-game coordinator Travis Switzer is considered the frontrunner for the Browns OC job, per sources. He’s set to interview with the team soon. The idea is to pair Todd Monken’s passing game with Switzer’s run principles from Baltimore," he reported on Friday.
Of course, Switzer and Monken worked together with the Ravens, where Monken was the team's offensive coordinator. Switzer has been with Baltimore for nine seasons, with three of those as the run-game coordinator.
In that span, the Ravens have ranked first, first and second in rushing yards per game.
Of course, it helps to have Lamar Jackson, but backs like Derrick Henry, Gus Edwards, Keaton Mitchell and Justice Hill have all had success under Switzer.
The Browns offer two promising young backs to work with in Dylan Sampson and Quinshon Judkins, and Judkins in particular has shown he has star potential.
Given Switzer's history, hiring him would be good news for both Sampson and Judkins, and the Browns' offense as a whole.
It'll be interesting to see if Monken will be calling the plays in Cleveland, or if whoever he hires as offensive coordinator will.
That has not been confirmed, but considering Monken called the plays with the Ravens, we would guess he'll do the same in Cleveland.
