Browns may lose highly sought after assistant to Raiders for head coaching job

Even though the Browns have been among the worst teams in football in 2024, they do have some nice pieces on the roster and on the coaching staff.  Coach and consultant Mike Vrabel has been on the staff this year after coaching the Tennessee Titans from 2018-2023.

And according to Evan Massey, Browns on SI is hearing that the Las vegasRaiders could target Vrabel as their new head coach for the 2025 season:

"An NFL league source tells Browns On SI there is a strong sentiment in Las Vegas that Mike Vrabel would be Tom Brady’s first choice to be the Raiders head coach in 2025. After Sunday's loss to Miami, Antonio Pierce has the Raiders off to their worst start since 2018 in his first full season as their head coach. Pierce has maintained the support of the locker room in Las Vegas, but his chances of keeping the job appear to be shrinking by the week." -- Evan Massey

This could be a pretty tough loss for Cleveland, who could be entering a huge rebuild, and Vrabel is one of the best coaches in the NFL, period.  He had a very successful tenure with the Titans, and his departure as the team's head coach following 2023 seemed to be pretty controversial.

It's only going to be a matter of time before Mike Vrabel does become a head coach, and it may be as soon as this next cycle.  If I was the Browns front office, I would do whatever it took to keep Vrabel for at least the 2025 NFL Season, as his coaching experience is extremely valuable.
