Browns make shocking quarterback decision at training camp

9 hours ago 1

The Cleveland Browns quarterback battle continues to take shape as training camp rolls on. Joe Flacco seems to be the leader in the clubhouse, and Dillon Gabriel has had notable struggles through Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Gabriel went just 3-of-14 in team drills, according to ESPN Cleveland. He then followed that up with a rough Saturday, going 1-of-6 in a team drill, per Zac Jackson. However, it is the lack of plays for another quarterback that is eyebrow raising.

Per Mary Kay Cabot, Shedeur Sanders didn't take a single snap in team drills on Saturday. The reason given was arm soreness.

The Browns' rookie seemed to have a golden chance to definitively leap over Gabriel in the quarterback battle. And while Gabriel's performance may have done that on its own, it's likely that Sanders could have put his own stamp on the race on Saturday should he have gotten the reps.
