Browns’ Jared Verse sends strong message after being traded from Rams for Myles Garrett

Cleveland Browns edge rusher Jared Verse spoke candidly about being traded from the Los Angeles Rams for Myles Garrett.

Verse admitted that he was initially upset when he first heard about the trade.

“It caught me by surprise,” Verse said. “I love L.A. I love the coaches, the organization, my teammates, the staff, the fans. I love the whole vibe of L.A. It was upsetting. I was upset for a good little bit of time, but when you’re an athlete you understand the nature of business. Everybody does what they think is best for their business and that’s the situation that I’m in. I’m happy to be a part of the Browns. I’m happy that they believe in me and that they were able to make that trade and bring me here.”

Jared Verse’s strong Rams tenure ends in blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett

The 25-year-old was phenomenal in his time in Los Angeles. He earned two Pro Bowl nods and had established himself as a very good pass rusher for the past two seasons.

Verse put up great numbers, including 12 sacks, five forced fumbles, three passes defended, 124 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 45 quarterback hits.

In his Rams tenure, Verse was the primary edge rusher whom teams game-planned for, and that will certainly be the case in Cleveland now.

The Rams selected the former Florida State Seminole 19th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. Los Angeles had used their first first-round pick on Verse since 2016.

He was really good for the Rams, and while the front office was hesitant to give him up, they realized they couldn't pass up the opportunity to acquire a player of Garrett's caliber.
