Browns get exciting wide receiver update that's bad news for Jerry Jeudy

The Cleveland Browns went into the NFL offseason intending to revamp nearly the entire offensive line and the entire wide receiver room.

They added a ton of help along the OL, and should have five new starters in 2026. But, in the WR room, they only added two in KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston.

While Zac Jackson of The Athletic shared an exciting update, with Boston and Concepcion looking great so far this offseason, there was some underlying bad news for Jerry Jeudy, as his spot in the WR room might be taken over.

Browns' Jerry Jeudy gets bad news on WR job amid exciting update

"Second-round rookie Denzel Boston was arguably the spring practice MVP, while both first-round rookie KC Concepcion and second-year man Isaiah Boond flashed speed and playmaking ability," Jackson writes.

Cleveland's wide receiver room looks likely to be led by Boston amid a very impressive start to his offseason with the Browns. But add in Concepcion and even Isaiah Bond impressing, and the Browns might have three wide receivers already.

When it comes to Jeudy's role on the roster, it would not be a total surprise to see the Browns move on from him if they can find a trade partner.

The 27-year-old veteran is under contract for the next three seasons through 2028 on a $52.5 million deal. He's counting for roughly $10.3 million against the cap in 2026, and it only goes up from there.

After putting up a very disappointing 602 yards on 50 receptions with two touchdowns last year as the undisputed No. 1 WR all season long, the Browns might be ready to move on from him.

And if Boston, Concepcion, and Bond appear to be having good offseasons, then parting with Jeudy now might not be a bad idea.

With how good that trio of youngsters has looked this season, it would not be a surprise if the Browns were ready for life after Jeudy.

He's 27 years old, while Bond and Boston are 22, and Concepcion is 21. Since the Browns are also likely to find their QB of the future in the 2027 NFL Draft, this young WR trio might be the future of the Browns' receiver corps.

All three have shown promise this offseason, and with the team clearly in rebuild mode, Jeudy is the odd man out. This exciting report from Jackson on the WR room is a bad sign for Jeudy, as his playing time might decrease, or he might even get traded.

Regardless, if the Browns like what they've seen from Concepcion, Boston, and Bond, Jeudy is clearly an expendable player who might not have a role with the Browns for much longer.
