Brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo makes Michael Jordan-esque announcement

The summer of Antetokounmpo is upon us.

With Giannis reportedly open to exploring a trade, many teams will be concocting offers to pry the two-time MVP away from the Milwaukee Bucks.

But Giannis isn't the only Antetokounmpo making headlines these days.

On Monday, Giannis's brother, Thanasis, made a massive announcement, per Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Christopher Kuhagen.

"I'm back," Thanasis said during a live podcast, referring to his recovery from an Achilles tear.

Thanasis wasn't under contract with the Bucks or any other team last season, but he's apparently been cleared to resume basketball activities; will anyone scoop up the elder Antetokounmpo?

After his Michael Jordan-style announcement about returning to the NBA, Thanasis might be hard out of luck finding a deal.

Maybe the Bucks would consider re-signing Thanasis to keep Giannis in good graces. To Thanasis's credit, he's always been an entertaining part of the NBA.

Thanasis began his pro basketball career with Filathlitikos in Greece’s lower divisions, averaging 12.2 points in the 2012–13 season.

He was drafted at No. 51 by the New York Knicks in 2014 and debuted in 2016, playing two games.

He joined the Bucks in 2019, reuniting with Giannis, and won an NBA championship in 2021.

Known for his high-energy play, Thanasis averaged 4.6 minutes in 2023–24.
