Brooke Hogan is exercising her right to grieve her father, Hulk Hogan, how she pleases, but fans were upset with her choice.
The oldest and only daughter of the late WWE icon took to Instagram last week, sharing that she decided to take a trip to the beach to mourn her father, who passed away last year. Her first photo on her Instagram carousel showed the mom of two in a bright lime green bikini bottom as she faced the ocean. Several fans thought the post was inappropriate as she was eulogizing her father in the caption, and the photo she used was a "thirst trap." The response from fans prompted her to make an additional post explaining her reasoning behind the post.
"Trust me, if I wanted to give you a thirst trap, you would have gotten one. If I were a surfer, a swim instructor, heavier, thinner... would it be less shocking?" she asked, sharing several photoshopped photos of herself heavier, with wrinkled skin, and more to prove her point.
"I grew up in swimsuits. I understand that not a lot of the world gets that. But this is my home. This is me. This is my one of many days I grieved my dad," she explained. "Shame on anyone for demonizing it. I am a human. My father was human. And you people have the nerve to act like you're experts on ANY topic or know anything about my experience with him? Even my closest family has no clue what I know and have experienced. And you come at me with your ignorant opinions and nasty comments hiding behind your screens? Go back under your bridge, trolls."
In her original post, she reminisced on the good memories she shared with her father and how emotional she got while being at the beach in his memory.
“Needed some time with my thoughts, my daddy and the ocean he loved so much," she captioned the post. "Every wave hit my heart like a memory that felt like it was yesterday. The waves carried the bass in his voice, the salt water felt like his hugs."
“The smell of the ocean smelled like so many days on the boat we spent together," Brooke continued. "I remember him whisking me across the surf like King Triton holding his Little Mermaid... if I could breathe underwater, I'd spend forever under the sea if it meant being that much closer to him."
Brooke concluded the post, noting that it made her emotional being there, “The tears were endless today.”
This is not the first time Brooke has been to the beach in remembrance of her father. Instead of attending his funeral last year, she had an intimate tribute for him at the beach with her family, including her husband, former NHL star Steven Oleksy, and their twins, whom they welcomed in January 2025.
