Jacob Misiorowski breaks MLB record with flame-throwing performance on Memorial Day

Jacob Misiorowski has been a sensation for the Milwaukee Brewers since making his MLB debut last year, and he is quickly earning his spot among the best pitchers in baseball.

Misiorowski is known for his ability to throw pitches at-or-above 100 MPH, and he showed off his flame-throwing abilities on Monday afternoon. With the Brewers taking on the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field, Misiorowski initially flirted with a no hitter, but instead made history in a different fashion.

The Cardinals had no answer for Misiorowski, who tracked up the 100 MPH pitches en route to a 5-1 Milwaukee victory. Now, no pitcher in MLB history has thrown as many 100 MPH pitches in one outing as the Brewers young stud.

Jacob Misiorowski record vs. Cardinals

Misiorowski got the start for the Brewers on Monday as Milwaukee hosted the Cardinals, and the young ace put on a show for the crowd. Misiorowski threw 57 fast balls of at least 100 MPH, the most in a single game since 2008.

Misiorowski passed Hunter Greene's 47 100-MPH pitches, as the Cincinnati Reds pitcher did that in 2022. Misiorowski and Greene currently comprise of the entire top 10 on this list, as each pitcher has five entries on the top 10.

On the day, Misiorowski threw 96 pitches, so 59.3 percent of his pitches against St. Louis were fastballs of at least 100 MPH. Misiorowski's fastest pitch of the game went for 103.4 MPH, which he reached three times on the afternoon.

Misiorowski dominated the Cardinals to the tune of seven one-run innings as the Brewers defeated their division rivals. It was the second time all season that Misiorowski recorded an out in the seventh inning and ties his longest start of the season thus far.

The fastest pitch in the MLB game belongs to Aroldis Chapman, who once threw a pitch 105.8 MPH with the Cincinnati Reds way back in 2010. Chapman owns nine spots in the top 10 on the fastest pitch list, as he's reached at least 105 MPH nine times in his career.

However, Chapman has been a reliever for his entire career, so he never had the opportunity to throw as many 100 MPH pitches as Misiorowski has as a starter.
