Bronny James makes case for Lakers call-up in historic NBA G League win

The Los Angeles Lakers are a win away from usurping the Houston Rockets for the third seed in the Western Conference. Clearly, Coach JJ Redick and Luka Doncic have plans of winning the Larry O'Brien Trophy in 2026. However, championship contenders and pretenders are set apart by the depth on their roster. If ever they do need more of that, the NBA G League's South Bay Lakers with Drew Timme, Dalton Knecth, and, LeBron James' son, Bronny James could offer just that.

Bronny James goes nuts in NBA G League

The Lakers have now won their 20th game of NBA G League regular season. Their insane 123-116 win over the Iowa Wolves also marked their tenth-straight win. This matches the longest win streak in South Bay Lakers history which was set back in 2012. Bronny looked just like LeBron due to his all-around production.

He finished with 17 points while also dishing out three assists to keep the offense rolling. More than facilitating their ball movement, James was also not a slouch on the defensive end of the floor. His relentless pursuit to stop the Wolves from gaining momentum got him two steals and two rebounds. When it came to the eye test? Bronny was also impressing a lot of NBA fans with his G League performance.

It was not just James who did great for the Lakers. Seven players notched 10 points or more in this squad. Timme led the scoring with his 20 points alongside five assists, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Knecht who also spent some time under Coach Redick's main squad finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and a block.

Clearly, this team could very well be priming for an NBA G League championship when summer rolls around. The only thing stopping the Lakers from doing that? Well, it could be the fact that a handful of these players get called up by Coach Redick to help them in their pursuit of an 18th banner to tie the Boston Celtics' record during the NBA Playoffs.
