Broncos' top offseason need is to give Bo Nix something he's not had in his career

This offseason, the Denver Broncos will have some work to do. As a serious playoff contender with Super Bowl aspirations, there's no time like the present for the Broncos.

Bo Nix is on his rookie deal, Russell Wilson's contract is off the books, and the Broncos have a few clear needs to address. Linebacker is a need, but the offense is where the Broncos should focus.

Nick Kosmider of The Athletic identified what the Broncos' top need this offseason is, and it's something that Nix hasn't had in his career so far: an offensive playmaker.

Broncos top need this offseason is offensive playmaker

"An offensive playmaker: The Broncos finished 14th in scoring in 2025. They need to improve to reach the final level of their climb under Sean Payton and claim a Super Bowl," Kosmider writes.

Adding to the offense has been a big need for the Broncos for some time. But the specifics of a playmaker are noteworthy.

They could add another solid running back, a wide receiver, a tight end, or even a "joker" that Payton talked about last offseason. Those are all potential ways to improve the offense this offseason, and any addition would be helpful.

But the Broncos shouldn't be simply looking to add a decent tight end or a running back that can get a few carries every game. The offense needs some juice.

Courtland Sutton, RJ Harvey, Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant, and Marvin Mims make up a solid core, but Nix and this Denver offense need a playmaker.

Someone like Rashid Shaheed, Kenneth Walker III, or some other explosive weapon in free agency, the draft, or in the trade market is a must.

Nix is a good quarterback, but the current crop of options on offense isn't good enough to win the Super Bowl. Someone to take this Broncos offense over the top and get them inside the top ten in the NFL would be huge.

Adding such an offensive playmaker might not be easy, but there isn't a bigger need for the Broncos.

Nix hasn't had such a weapon in his career yet, and if the Broncos can find one, regardless of their position, the Broncos will be in much better shape than they were in 2025.
