Broncos should have these three players lined up for contract extensions next

The current version of the Denver Broncos is big on continuity. The team has done a terrific job of making sure important players, coaches and even the general manager don't get away.

Last season, the team chose to hand out contract extensions to Courtland Sutton, Nik Bonitto, Zach Allen, Luke Wattenberg, Wil Lutz and Malcolm Roach. Believing the team is close to a Super Bowl, it was also important to keep the same head coach and general manager in place.

In May, the Broncos came to terms on a five-year contract extension with George Paton. This came after rumors that Paton, once considered to be on a short leash following the deal to extend the contract of Russell Wilson, could be back to the team he came from, the Minnesota Vikings

This past week, the Broncos also gave a five-year contract extension to Sean Payton. These deals keep the key figureheads in place, but there are players who will be integral to a potential Super Bowl win who also deserve new deals.

All three of these players are set to hit free agency following the season and their contracts should be extended in this order.

Ja'Quan McMillian, Cornerback

From undrafted free agent to key piece of the defense, Ja'Quan McMillian has been nothing short of fantastic for the Broncos. There were reports earlier in the week that the team could be talking extension with him currently, but those were later shut down

Still, it's a must that the Broncos get a new deal in place with the 26-year-old.

Marvin Mims, Jr., WR

There have been those calling for the Broncos to consider trading Marvin Mims this offseason, but those takes are hard to process when he has made the Pro Bowl twice as a return man and is the best deep threat on the team.

While Mims has yet to break out from an offensive standpoint, he still has a high ceiling as a wide receiver and is one of the best return specialists in the league. Those are traits this team should lock up for several more years.

Riley Moss, CB

The idea of extending Riley Moss will be seen as controversial by some, since the team drafted Jahdae Barron in the first round last year. To extend both McMillian and Moss with Barron still on the depth chart would suggest that the team has made at least one mistake somewhere.

That said, why not keep one of your biggest strengths as one of your biggest strengths? The Broncos can continue to build the secondary with interchangeable parts as McMillian, Moss and Barron could make a terrific trio to support Pat Surtain II for years to come.
