Among the biggest needs for the Denver Broncos this offseason is wide receiver and running back.
Denver needs a No. 2 wide receiver across from Courtland Sutton, and preferably a veteran because of the team's lack of established weapons at the position. This kind of addition would be a huge boost for Bo Nix.
At running back, J.K. Dobbins is slated to be a free agent and it's possible Denver goes in a different direction for a complement to RJ Harvey.
Knowing all that, Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr predicts the Broncos will pull off two blockbuster trades, one for Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery and another for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Here's what Orr said:
Sean Payton will trade for both David Montgomery and A.J. Brown.
Continuing last season’s aggressive free-agency push to bolster the defense, Payton, spurred by his near miss at reaching Super Bowl LX, will spend multiple picks between the second and fourth rounds to bring in veterans who can keep Denver in the hunt.
Both Montgomery and Brown appear to be on shaky ground with their current teams, so they could very well be traded this offseason.
Lions general manager Brad Holmes has left the door open for the team to part ways with Montgomery this offseason after the veteran saw his role decrease behind Jahmyr Gibbs in 2025.
"Those are discussions that we're going to have a lot more in depth, in terms of, like, what is the best plan for him going forward? Is it somewhere else, or whatever the case be?" Holmes said of Montgomery. "Just really appreciate everything that he has done for us, if it does end up going that way. I hope it doesn't because we love David Montgomery. He's a good football player."
Meanwhile, in Philly, Brown is considered a trade candidate thanks to his overall dissatisfaction with the state of the Eagles' offense in recent years, although the Eagles are far from guaranteed to deal their top receiver.
"The front office knows how vital Brown has been to the Eagles' success, but it must determine whether he'll commit to the operation and be aligned with quarterback Jalen Hurts moving forward," ESPN's Tim McManus said.
"If the Eagles are convinced that won't happen, a trade might be in order," he added.
Acquiring Brown would give the Broncos one of the better one-two punches at wide receiver in the NFL, which would greatly help Nix.
Pairing Montgomery with Harvey would be an ideal scenario, as Montgomery is a power runner and a grinder who would be a great complement to the faster, more explosive Harvey.
With the Broncos needing to go all-in after a season in which they nearly made it to the Super Bowl, we could see Denver making big moves like these.
