Broncos cut ties with new QB before he even shows up in Denver

The Denver Broncos are entering Year 2 with Bo Nix as the starting quarterback. The former Auburn and Oregon star did well in his rookie season, throwing for 3,775 yards with 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. 

Nix is undoubtedly the starter in Denver, and the other quarterbacks on the roster include Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger, providing some quality depth for head coach Sean Payton. 

At the start of May, it was revealed that Desmond Ridder, the former Cincinnati Bearcats star QB, was coming to town to participate in rookie minicamp. 

But, that has changed. On Thursday, it was revealed that Ridder is not expected to be coming, per Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post. 

"Sources: Former Atlanta and Vegas QB Desmond Ridder not likely to be at #Broncos rookie minicamp after all. The 2022 third-round pick was slated to be in town as a veteran tryout but now no longer happening."

Well, that was quick. 

Ridder, who was a third-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2022, was then traded to the Arizona Cardinals after the 2023 season only to be released and then picked up by the Las Vegas Raider. 

Ridder played in six games for Las Vegas in 2024, throwing for 458 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, which included him starting for Las Vegas in Week 15.

Now, Ridder hits the market again, and it might be a tough time to find a job with minicamps starting across the league and his resume not being too good since coming to the NFL.
