Broncos could provide obvious trade partner for AFC East team following recent rumor

The Denver Broncos are set at the wide receiver position following their recent headline-making trade to grab Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins. In fact, they may be a bit heavy at that position now.

The idea of the Broncos trading one of their young wide receivers has been discussed, and a logical trade partner may have just emerged.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the New York Jets are planning to trade for a wide receiver before the season kicks off. With Garrett Wilson already on the roster, the team could be looking for more weapons to add to a shaky quarterback situation.

The Jets may be looking to add a bigger name, such as Brian Thomas Jr. or Quentin Johnston, as suggested by Cimini, but the Broncos could have a more affordable option in a player like Marvin Mims Jr., Troy Franklin, or second-year wideout Pat Bryant.

Why do the Jets make for a logical trade partner? Their general manager, Darren Mougey, worked for the Broncos for 13 seasons. He could easily call up his old friend George Paton and ask about the availability of any of those players.

Broncos-Jets trade could make sense for both teams

What makes this an enticing trade for the Broncos? The Jets hold the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, meaning they will be drafting at the beginning of each round in which they still have a pick in April's draft. They have already traded away their picks in the third and fifth rounds. However, they have two picks in the second and fourth rounds, and those picks would be desirable.

The Broncos are happy with what they have at the position, as Waddle's addition completely transformed the depth chart. The team now has the flexibility to make a deal or keep what they have and be deep at the position when the season opens.

If Mougey were to call the Broncos on this subject, it would be interesting to see which player he may have interest in and what he would be willing to give up in order to get them.
