Brian Schottenheimer shares thoughts on PSU's Micah Parsons Week 1 status for Cowboys

Despite his trade request, former Penn State star Micah Parsons isn't expected to be traded by the Dallas Cowboys. Perhaps if he holds out and doesn't play in games, he could be dealt, but there still has to be plenty that plays out over the next few weeks to months for that to happen.

Ultimately, Parsons is upset right now, and rightfully so, but the Cowboys may pay him, even if it seems unlikely at the moment.

However, for now, the Cowboys don't seem too worried about it. Not only do they not plan on trading him, but they released their unofficial depth chart on Tuesday, and Parsons was starting at defensive end. That doesn't come as much of a surprise, but it's also noteworthy.

According to first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer, he expects to have him during the Cowboys' first game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles. Parsons has some ties to the Eagles because of where he's from, so he might want to be out there with his teammates in that contest.

“We’re still planning on moving Micah around and putting him in all the spots that we see him and using our fronts the way we want to see it,” Schottenheimer said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “We go about our business every day. We live in the moment. We focus on the moment. Like I said the other day, I expect Micah to be here.”

It'll be interesting to see how everything continues to play out, but the Cowboys haven't done the right thing, and it seems like some in the building understand that, while others don't.
