Brian Cashman responds to all Yankees fans with NSFW message

The narrative that the New York Yankees’ front office and analytics department make the lineup every night is something that we've heard a lot over the past few years.

Whether it's true or not is something we'll probably never find out, but many higher-ups in the Yankees organization decided to talk about it. Of course, they didn't admit to it if it was the case.

General manager Brian Cashman addressed the criticism of skipper Aaron Boone, pushing back hard on the idea that Boone is simply filling out a lineup card handed down from above.

“It irritates the (expletive) out of me,” Cashman told The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner, “because it’s so stupid, it’s so false, but yet people just throw it out willy-nilly. You can’t get the prior two managers or the current manager to testify under oath that they’ve ever been dictated the lineup once in (my tenure).”

For years, there’s been a portion of the Yankees fanbase that believes analytics and the front office play too large a role in daily decisions like lineup construction.

In reality, while I'm not exactly the biggest analytics guy, they have to do that nowadays. Even if the Yankees don't want to admit that they're using some sort of analytics to make these decisions, it's 2026 and reality says they are.
