Kyle Busch shared a post on X ahead of his upcoming race against his son, Brexton Busch, at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The post previewed a bit of father-son rivalry before they hit the track this weekend.
This weekend’s event at The Bullring is round two of what fans now call the “Battle of the Busches.” Kyle Busch won the first round, but Brexton has been improving fast and is eager for another chance. The Las Vegas setting adds to the equation since both Busch and Busch Jr. are racing on their home turf. In the X post Busch wrote,
“All eyes on tomorrow. I’ve got a head start on the kid. Starting 5th to his 11th.💪🏻”The 10-year-old Brexton Busch replied with a witty response,
“You’re not that much faster! I was only .008 behind you in practice!!!”Kyle Busch often joins his son in smaller races when his NASCAR schedule allows. With the 2025 Cup Series season now over, he has time to race alongside Brexton again.
Busch did not qualify for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs after being eliminated in the regular season. He ended the year outside the Championship 4 but still managed a fifth-place finish in the season finale at Phoenix Raceway.
Kyle Busch ends another winless season but stays optimistic for 2026
Kyle Busch finished the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season without a single win for the second year in a row. Driving the No. 8 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, he closed out the year with his third top-five finish at Phoenix Raceway.
Busch’s last win came at Gateway in 2023. Since then, results have been below his usual standard. His average finish this year was 17.9 across 36 races, and he led fewer than 100 laps all season. In comparison, his teammate Austin Dillon had a stronger year, qualifying for the playoffs and got a win at Richmond.
Despite the difficult season, Kyle Busch kept a positive outlook. Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio after the final race, he said:
“You know we took two tires there at the end and that gave us the track position there and the final restart but good adjustments, you know thanks to Andy Street for filling in the last few weeks it was really good to come out of here on a high note and get a good solid finish to end the season so something to build off of for sure and excited for Jim Pohlman to start and get ready for the day.”Busch will enter the 2026 season with a new crew chief, Jim Pohlman, who previously worked with Justin Allgaier.
