Brewers quietly sign 36 stolen base outfielder from Blue Jays

The Milwaukee Brewers may have found their next speedster. 

Javik Blake, a broadcaster for Double-A Biloxi in the Brewers organization, announced Milwaukee had signed 24-year-old outfielder Dasan Brown. The Oakville, Canada native spent the last six seasons in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system, reaching as high as Triple-A Buffalo. 

Brown still requires time to improve his hitting, but his defense and speed on the basepaths are strong parts of his game. In 101 games at Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo in 2025, the former third-round pick stole 36 bases in 40 attempts. 

He played 86 games at Double-A, hitting .175/.286/.249 with three home runs and a .535 OPS. 

How Brown can help the Brewers 

Every club can use a bench guy in the postseason whose sole purpose is to be a pinch runner and defensive replacement. Justin Dean became that player for the Los Angeles Dodgers in last year's World Series, and Terrance Gore is one of the more infamous examples, playing that role in 2014 and 2015 with the Kansas City Royals. 

For a team like the Brewers, which emphasizes putting the ball in play and moving runners, Brown has a chance to play that role. 

If he wants more at-bats, he will need to improve his below-average .332 career on-base percentage.
