The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a big loss during the regular season, both literally and figuratively.

That loss is tight end Darnell Washington, who will be out for an extended period of time due to an injury suffered in Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns.

Losing Washington was a tough blow, as not only does he contribute as a pass-catchers, he's also a great blocker.

Why Darnell Washington isn't playing

According to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, Washington suffered a broken arm and is not expected to return this season.

With Washington out, the Steelers will need more out of Pat Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith and Connor Heyward, both as pass-catchers and blockers.

A third-round pick in 2023, Washington had a career-best year after posting 31 catches for 364 yards and one touchdown in 16 games.
