CC Sabathia pitched less than half a season with the Milwaukee Brewers, but it was so utterly dominant that it remains part of the local lore. He pitched on short rest and was pretty much untouchable as he tried to will the Brewers to the playoffs.
It was a stretch that will never really be matched, but in one sense, Kyle Harrison has now surpassed it.
In Sabathia's first 10 starts with the Brewers, he had a 1.59 ERA.
In Harrison's first 10 starts with the Brewers, he has a 1.57 ERA. That's a record.

That’s the lowest ERA in a pitcher’s first 10 starts with the Brewers, surpassing 2008 CC Sabathia (1.59)

The circumstances are different, of course.
Sabathia did his work in the final days of the regular season, chasing the playoffs. Harrison's has come early on, with the lights not as bright yet.
But still, for him to match anything that Sabathia did during that storied run is remarkable.

It also continues to make it feel worse for the Boston Red Sox, who traded him this offseason to acquire Caleb Durbin.
Durbin is hitting essentially like he's facing this dominant version of Harrison every at bat. Boston could sure use a southpaw dealing the way Harrison is.
But the Red Sox traded him not long after getting him in the Rafael Devers trade, never really seeing for themselves what Harrison might provide, and it's not working out will in Boston.
In Milwaukee? It's working even better than anyone could've imagined.
