If this came across the social media feeds of New York Yankees fans over the weekend, they probably just nodded their heads. There wouldn't have been any surprise.
Gary Sanchez plays for the Milwaukee Brewers now, and on Saturday, he wasn't even catching. He was at first base.
And there he was, making an absolutely brutal throw.
Sanchez's Yankees tenure wore out in part because his defensive shortcomings at catcher began to bother everyone.
He apparently isn't the smoothest first baseman, either:
Kyle Harrison never had a chance on this one 😭😭😭

The Brewers have Sanchez in the lineup at first base for his bat, not his glove. He's shown off his powerful swing in the early going.
Milwaukee has one of baseball's best catchers, William Contreras, so while Sanchez catches occasionally, the Brewers need to use him elsewhere if they want him in the lineup.
First base is viewed as a simple position, but clearly it can have motions and actions that are unfamiliar for a player who has spent most of his baseball life behind the plate.
Sanchez will want to shake this one off, because the Brewers still need his bat.
