The Chicago Cubs planned to rely on Michael Busch in a big way this season.
So far, though, things have been really bumpy for their first baseman after such a promising 2025 campaign.
In fact, he leads MLB in one stat that he definitely doesn't want to be leading in.
Since March 29, Busch has the worst batting average in baseball, according to @JayHayKid. on X.
He's hitting just .047 in that span, entering Sunday.
The only slightly positive, maybe, narrative here is that Busch is right next to Mike Trout on this list.
Trout is hitting just .100 in that span.
Is hanging out with an all-time great a good omen? Eh, maybe not.

Geraldo Perdomo was also fantastic last season for the Arizona Diamondbacks, and he's struggled so far early this year.
Is this a case of regressing after playing over their heads last season, for Busch and Perdomo at least? Or is it just small sample size bad luck?
The Cubs are certainly hoping it's just a small sample size soon to be turned around. They need Busch to be good this season.
