Breezy Johnson crashed out of Olympics, but then U.S. skiing star got proposed to and engaged

Breezy Johnson has had an absurdly eventful Winter Olympics.

The United States skiing star won a gold medal earlier this week. On Thursday, though, a crash took her out of the Super-G competition.

Johnson wasn't done. She still had to get engaged.

That's right. At the end of Thursday's action, her boyfriend Connor Watkins proposed to Johnson, according to the New York Post, and she accepted.

NBC Sports described the scene like this:

"Wearing a USA jacket, Watkins dropped to a knee in the finish area surrounded by skiers and competitors from other countries, and raised a silver ring with a blue gem at its center. Johnson put a hand to her sunglasses while becoming visibly emotional. After saying yes, Watkins stood and kissed Johnson as U.S. teammates and officials cheered."

Johnson also showed cameras a carved piece of wood that quoted a Taylor Swift song: "Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?

According to NBC, Johnson admitted that she had floated the idea to her boyfriend of getting engaged at the Olympics.

"It's definitely a lot more crazy with everything just happening all at once, and the reality of it is so different than the way you imagined, and so much better," Johnson told NBC.

Thursday's competition didn't go the way Johnson would've wanted. But she likely entered the Super-G with a weight off her shoulders after taking home a gold earlier in the week.

And besides, who needs a gold when you can get a diamond?
