The New York Jets have said that they don't want to trade running back Breece Hall. That being said, the NFL is a business, and the Jets could be offered a deal that they are unwilling to pass up, and end up trading away their starting running back, who is in the last year of his rookie deal.
Hall is one of the more exciting players getting thrown around in trade talks. He is a dual-threat running back who excels in the passing game and can break off long runs. Hall also has appeal, as he is just 24 years old and entering his prime. He is only under contract through the 2025 season, so he will either need a new deal or be a half-season rental if he is dealt.
Hall heads into Week 9 of the 2025 season with 581 yards and two touchdowns on 117 carries. He has brought in 21 of his 30 targets for an additional 178 yards through the air. The Jets are on bye in Week 9, so Hall should remain healthy if a trade candidate makes a good enough offer.
Here is more on the best landing spots for Hall ahead of the 2025 trade deadline.

Breece Hall landing spots
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are the top team linked to Hall. Kansas City finds itself at 5-3 heading into Week 9 and has turned its season around after beginning the year with consecutive losses.
While the Chiefs are starting to look more like the dynasty we are used to, the offense has lacked firepower. Kansas City's leading rusher so far is Isiah Pacheco, who has 329 yards with a touchdown through eight games.
The more interesting stat about the Chiefs' backfield is that the single-game high for rushing yards so far in 2025 belongs to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who had 66 rushing yards in Week 2. Part of this is because Kansas City rotates its running backs, but it is also a result of the franchise not rostering a star in the backfield. The most rushing yards for a Chiefs running back so far this season is Pacheco with 58 yards.
Hall would fit in the backfield and be an instant boost. He has had more than 58 rushing yards in five of his eight games this season. Hall is an electric player who would provide a much-needed spark to the Kansas City offense.

Arizona Cardinals
While trading Hall to the Chiefs would be a huge move that would shake the NFL, trading him to the Cardinals would be less well-received. Arizona heads into Week 9 with a 2-5 record and in last place in the NFC West. The Cardinals are in a spot where they should be selling rather than buying.
That being said, trading for Hall would be an investment for the future. Starting running back James Conner had a season-ending foot injury in September that has many wondering if the veteran's career will be over, given that he will be 31 years old next May. After Conner got hurt, backup running back Trey Benson had knee surgery on October 1, and the recovery timeline for that is four to six weeks. He is expected back sometime in mid-to-late November.
Arizona could choose to wait on Benson and to use him as their starter going forward. Another option is to keep the two running back attack and to trade for Hall. The dual-threat running back would lead the backfield and provide another star for quarterback Kyler Murray to target joining wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and tight end Trey McBride.
New England Patriots
A trade to the Patriots would likely be the most unlikely scenario in this list. That being said, it was reported that New England would be looking at add a running back at the 2025 trade deadline. This report came as a shock to fans because the Patriots used a second-round pick to bring in former Ohio State running back Treyveon Henderson, and haven't utilized him in the offense.
New England would likely have to pay a hefty price to get Hall from New York, given that both teams are in the AFC East. The Patriots head into Week 9 with a 6-2 record, sitting atop the division. The AFC East has belonged to the Buffalo Bills every year since 2020. Before that, New England had won the division 11 years in a row. Adding Hall would add another weapon to the offense that has already been clicking with quarterback Drake Maye, and would theoretically improve their chance to take the division from the Bills this year and in the future.

Chicago Bears
The Bears spent the 2025 offseason looking to improve around quarterback Caleb Williams. That included improving the offensive line to protect him more, and now is the time for Chicago to add another weapon to the offense. Veteran running back D'Andre Swift is only 26 years old, but has already been in the league for six seasons, counting 2025. Swift is only under contract through the 2026 season, and investing in Hall would not only provide Chicago with another option in the offense, but would also help add a future option who can take over for Swift when his contract ends.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson is in his first year at the helm of the franchise. When he was with the Detroit Lions as the offensive coordinator, he had both Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery in his backfield. Adding Hall would give Johnson a familiar two-headed backfield attack.

Houston Texans
Houston was expected to be a contender in the AFC South, but has watched as the Indianapolis Colts have soared to not only a 7-1 record sitting atop the division or the conference, but the best mark in the league. The Texans started the season 3-4, but are by no means out of it when it comes to a playoff push.
Houston needs to get healthier, and one way to do that is to go out and get healthy players. The Texans were expected to have Joe Mixon as their starting running back, but he has been sidelined for eight weeks due to an injury that has not been disclosed. Nick Chubb and Woody Marks have tried to fill in, but Hall would be an instant boost for the franchise. Chubb is only under contract this season, and Mixon has an easy out after this season. Acquiring Hall would not only pair him with quarterback C.J. Stroud, but could help him lead the backfield for the future with Marks, a rookie, serving as his primary backup.

Los Angeles Chargers
One team that hasn't been included much in trade talks involving running backs is the Chargers. Los Angeles has been without its starting two running backs for most of the season. Backup running back Najee Harris tore his Achilles, ending his season. Starting running back Omarion Hampton is on injured reserve with an ankle injury. He was spotted in Week 8 still wearing a walking boot, raising concerns about when he could return.
Hall would help boost the backfield while Hampton works back from his injury. If Los Angeles were to trade for him, it could sign him to an extension and then use him and the first-round pick Hampton as its rushing attack for the foreseeable future. The Chargers could also trade for him just for this season to give the offense a boost while Hampton recovers, then not sign Hall to an extension and let him walk in free agency.
