The Atlanta Braves are one of the top contenders in the National League and the Majors.
That should lead to a very active trade deadline. One potential area of need for the Braves is in the starting rotation.
Atlanta could use another arm to go along with future Hall of Famer Chris Sale. There's no definite Game 2 starter in a postseason series.
On Wednesday, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller named three pitchers whom the Braves could target. All three are frontline starters, but will require a hefty trade package to acquire.
They are Tarik Skubal, Freddy Peralta, and Joe Ryan. If the Braves don't land one of those three All-Stars, their backup plan could be to call the Los Angeles Angels.
"Plan B might be Angels southpaw Reid Detmers," Miller wrote.
"His track record isn't as impressive, but he has been sensational recently; his salary is about 40 percent of Ryan's, he is arbitration-eligible through 2028, and goodness knows the Braves and Angels have an open line of communication, having completed 12 trades just in the past four calendar years."
Unfortunately for the Braves, the Angels may be hesitant to deal Detmers or any other young, controllable player.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles should be prioritizing the farm system and the future.

Detemers has posted a 3.93 ERA with 104 strikeouts in 94 innings (16 starts) this season.
Spencer Strider could be back in Atlanta's rotation come the postseason, but Detmers may be the more reliable No. 2 or No. 3 starter, based on Strider's recent struggles and injury history.
