Braves predicted to trade for $7.7 million All-Star outfielder to replace, upgrade from Jurickson Profar

The Atlanta Braves have found themselves in a bit of a bind weeks before Opening Day, with multiple starting pitchers out with injury long-term, and a star outfielder in Jurickson Profar being suspended for the entire season due to PED use.

There might be a quick fix to the Profar situation, though. FanSided’s Jake Elman proposes that the Braves make a deal with the Boston Red Sox for their All-Star outfielder, Jarren Duran.

“Even if Boston holds a playoff spot near or at the trade deadline, would anyone truly be surprised to see the Red Sox part ways with Duran? Remember, Breslow inherited Duran, so there may not be an emotional attachment between the two that Breslow could have with the players he brought in. I’d like to see the Braves make a play for Duran, especially after left fielder Jurickson Profar’s season-ending PED suspension. Atlanta should be back in the playoff hunt this summer after a disappointing 2025 season, and Duran makes too much sense for the Braves’ loaded lineup,” Elman wrote.

This past season, Duran slashed .256/.332/.442/.774 with 41 doubles, 13 triples, 16 home runs, 84 RBI, and 24 stolen bases in 157 games. Put him next to Ronald Acuna Jr. and Michael Harris II, and the Braves would have one of the best star outfield trios in the MLB.

He’d also be cost-effective, as he’s under team control for another two more years, and only set to make $7.7 million this season. This allows the Braves to use their money elsewhere to address other immediate problems.

Hopefully, the Braves consider this deal, as it could be the move that takes them from being out of contention entirely, to a chance at a Wild Card spot.
