Braves predicted to sign Blue Jays fan favorite who also pitched for the Mets

The Atlanta Braves don’t have many massive needs, but as the market starts to get hot, it’ll be interesting to see if they get involved with any starters after adding multiple bullpen pieces.

With several of the top arms still on the board, Atlanta could try to find an ace or be more interested in adding a veteran arm that could help the rotation over the course of a long season.

Rowan Kavner of FOX Sports had an interesting name to monitor, suggesting Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt is a fit.

“With Dylan Cease, Michael King and now Imai off the board, there seems to be a relatively clear top three before a drop-off to the next tier, which includes Bassitt,” Kavner wrote. “The veteran right-hander will turn 37 before the start of the 2026 season, but he’s coming off an interesting year in which he registered a 3.96 ERA before emerging as a relief weapon in October for a Blue Jays team that nearly won the World Series.”

Bassitt wouldn’t be signed to be an ace or carry a rotation.

He’s being evaluated as a veteran arm and someone who can give great innings in the regular season and pitch in October.

The age is a factor, but the Braves love their veterans.

Bassitt’s ability to transition into a relief role late last season only adds to what he can do, as Kavner mentioned, especially for a team with postseason hopes like the Braves.
