Braves cut ties with 10.38 ERA former Phillies starting pitcher

The Atlanta Braves have made a notable pitching staff adjustment. 

Before Monday night's series opener against the Chicago Cubs, the Braves have recalled right-hander Owen Murphy from Triple-A. 

Murphy will replace a left-hander who made just two appearances with Atlanta, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings. 

The Braves announced that Bailey Falter has been designated for assignment. 

Falter began the season with the Kansas City Royals and allowed a staggering 15 earned runs and 24 hits in 9.2 innings. 

The 29-year-old veteran was included in the trade that sent outfielder Lane Thomas to the Braves on trade deadline day. 

In addition to his solid work in the Majors with the Braves, Falter threw 10.2 scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts at Triple-A Gwinnett.

He made his Major League debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2021, spending parts of three seasons with the NL East club. 

Falter has never been a swing and miss pitcher, relying on weak contract to induce outs. 

However, opposing batters have not had any trouble making loud contact against the lefty in recent seasons.
