A video of a Starbucks employee refusing to write or print Charlie Kirk's name on orders recently went viral on X following the conservative political commentator's death. Kirk died in a fatal shooting while attending an event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
On September 15, a video of a woman ordering a Starbucks drink under Charlie Kirk's name went viral on social media. According to the video, the Starbucks store the woman visited was located at Yucaipa Boulevard in Yucaipa, California.
The video showed the woman walking into the outlet and ordering a mint majesty tea with two honeys, which is reportedly Kirk's go-to Starbucks order to soothe his throat. When asked for a name for the drink, the woman replied, 'Charlie Kirk,' which the barista refused to print on the sticker.
She said the company didn't allow political names to be printed on stickers, and when asked whether she could write the name on the cup, the barista replied she could only write "Charlie" due to political reasons.
As the video circulated on social media, many conservatives and Charlie Kirk supporters called for a Starbucks boycott, with one X user writing:
"Boycott time!!"@WallStreetApes Boycott time!!
Several netizens echoed similar sentiments, calling for a boycott and accusing Starbucks of censorship.
@WallStreetApes Starbucks literally programmed their system to BAN the name “Charlie Kirk.” Not a curse word. Not hate speech. Just his name. Ask yourself… why is a corporation terrified of a dead man’s name on a coffee cup? Because censorship isn’t about “safety.” It’s about erasing people the regime doesn’t like. Today it’s Charlie. Tomorrow it’s you.
@WallStreetApes Imagine if they refused to print George Floyds' name on a cup to honor him less than one week after his death.Just open The Turning Point Coffee Shop with his tea at the top of the menu. It will be the top selling place to grab coffee in the across the nation. A Bible verse on every cup and a college student's dream. ❤️
@WallStreetApes Boycott Starbucks. Their coffee sucks and is overpriced. Their culture is weird. Their logo is minimum a siren, probably Dagon/Lilith
@WallStreetApes Starbucks needs to Boycotted!
However, others seemed understanding of the company's policy to refuse to use politically affiliated names for orders, calling out the customer for her "Karen behavior."
@WallStreetApes I understand why people are doing this to honor him. But when every order comes in under the same name, it creates confusion for the staff and slows things down.
@WallStreetApes So, I’m as conservative as they come, but why are you telling Starbucks employees your name is Charlie Kirk. I’m not saying Starbucks is correct, but don’t use a dead man’s name to order your drink. That reeks of weird. I’d consider refusing it too as liberals are using his name for hate. We can be better
@WallStreetApes I love Charlie and hate this s**t usually. But she is right in this situation.
@WallStreetApes Not for nothing, it's Karen behavior to walk into a Starbucks and do this and then be mad about it. They said they can't do political names, fine, now if you see them writing "Joe Biden" on a cup then be mad, but if they don't want to get involved then they shouldn't have to.
JD Vance asked people to report anyone celebrating Charlie Kirk's death
US Vice President JD Vance hosted Charlie Kirk's eponymous podcast, The Charlie Kirk Show, from his office at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on September 15, 2025. During the two-hour-long episode, the VP had invited several guests to speak about Kirk's legacy and the aftermath of his death.
One of his talking points included a strong condemnation of the people celebrating Kirk's death on social media. Vance urged everyone to call out individuals who posted any content celebrating Kirk's murder, asking them to call their employers and get them fired.
“When you see someone celebrating Charlie’s murder, call them out. And, hell, call their employer. We don’t believe in political violence, but we do believe in civility, and there is no civility in the celebration of political assassination,” he said.
Vance's comments came after several airline workers, educators, healthcare professionals, and office workers in the United States reportedly lost their jobs for negatively commenting on Kirk's death. According to the BBC, an Office Depot employee in Michigan was fired after a video of them refusing to print Kirk's posters for his vigil went viral on social media.
Additionally, Anthony Pough, a Secret Service employee, had his security clearance revoked for his Facebook post after Kirk's shooting, where he alleged that the conservative activist "spewed hate and racism on his show."
Meanwhile, Stephen Miller, the White House's deputy chief of staff, vowed to avenge Kirk's death during his appearance on the podcast with Vance. According to NBC News, he accused left-wing organizations of spearheading "a vast domestic terror movement," adding:
“It is a vast domestic terror movement. With God as my witness, we are going to use every resource we have at the Department of Justice, Homeland Security and throughout this government to identify, disrupt, dismantle and destroy these networks and make America safe again for the American people. It will happen, and we will do it in Charlie’s name.”Charlie Kirk's memorial service will be held at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on September 21, 2025.
