Bournemouth will host Newcastle United at Vitality Stadium in their upcoming Premier League clash on September 21.
The Cherries have made a good start to the 2025/26 Premier League with three wins and only one defeat, which currently ranks them fourth in the top flight with nine points.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are 10th in the league table with five points after securing only one victory in four matches. The Magpies were also on the receiving end of a 2-1 defeat against Barcelona in their opening game of the Champions League.
Bournemouth and Newcastle have faced each other in seven league games at Vitality Stadium, during which time the Magpies have claimed two victories, while the Cherries secured one win, and the remaining four matches ended in a draw.
Bournemouth vs. Newcastle United lineups: Predicted starting XI, team news, injury latest
Bournemouth forward Enes Unal remains out of action after suffering a cruciate ligament tear in January this year, while Adam Smith’s struggles with a hamstring injury seem to prevail, making space for James Hill to continue at right-back.
Bafode Diakite and Ryan Christie’s availability against Newcastle also remains uncertain after both stars picked up knocks. The Cherries could also be left without Hamed Traore, who recently sustained a thigh injury.
Even though they have been maintaining a good stride in the Premier League, Bournemouth were eliminated from the second round of the Carabao Cup last month. This puts pressure on the Cherries’ head coach, Andoni Iraola to maintain their impressive form over the past couple of years in the top flight.
Bournemouth predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Petrovic (GK) — Hill, Milosavljevic, Senesi, Truffert — Adams, Scott — Semenyo, Tavernier, Brooks — Evanilson
Injured: Unal (ACL), Smith (hamstring), Diakite (knock, doubt), Christie (knock, doubt), Traore (thigh)
Suspended: None
Newcastle will be left without Anthony Gordon on Sunday as he completes his suspension for the red card he received against Liverpool, while Jacob Ramsey is also sidelined with an ankle injury.
Kieran Tripper and Fabian Schar’s availability remains doubtful after both came off the pitch with suspected knocks against Barcelona.
Newcastle fans will have to hold on a little longer for Yoane Wissa's debut as the striker is nursing a knee complaint.
With respect to their current form and recent results, Magpies boss Eddie Howe will be hoping his squad bag a much-needed win against Bournemouth and to move up the league table.
Newcastle United predicted starting XI (4-3-3, right to left): Pope (GK) — Livramento, Thiaw, Burn, Hall — Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton — Elanga, Woltemade, Barnes
Injured: Ramsey (ankle), Tripper (knock, doubt), Schar (knock, doubt), Wissa (knee)
Suspended: Anthony Gordon (red card)
