Bosa brothers reunion with 49ers gets key update from ESPN

The Bosa brothers are among the NFL's best at getting after the quarterback.

If they did it on the same team -- say, the San Francisco 49ers -- they could be even more intimidating.

Nick Bosa, the younger brother, is already under contract with the 'Niners.

Joey Bosa, the older bro, is a free agent and could pursue a path to playing with his brother.

That's what ESPN's Matt Bowen thinks will happen, as he wrote in a new article on Monday that the best fit for Joey to sign with at this point would indeed be the 49ers.

Joey spent his entire NFL career with the Chargers until 2025, when he joined the Bills and led the NFL with five forced fumbles.

A mostly healthy, productive campaign for Joey has made him a logical veteran for someone to sign this offseason, and the 49ers could certainly use him.

"Bosa has answered some availability questions over the past two seasons, playing in at least 14 games in each, and he fits as a pass rusher in Raheem Morris' defense," Bowen writes. "Bosa played 36.3 snaps per game last season in Buffalo, finishing with five sacks, five forced fumbles and 42 pressures. We still see Bosa's speed-to-power ability on tape, and he still keeps high energy to make stops later in the down. He would provide quality depth for a 49ers' pass rush that ranked last in pressure rate (24.9%) and total sacks (20) in 2025. And why not have some fun and put him next to his brother Nick?"

The Bosa brothers' mother has already had fun with this possible outcome, posting on social media about the prospect of her sons playing together.

It would definitely be a cool partnership. They've spent their NFL journeys apart from one another, and this would unite them as Joey in particular moves closer to the end of his NFL career.

Opposing QBs certainly wouldn't want to deal with two Bosas on the other side of the line. That's twice the trouble.

It's an opportunity the 49ers have to close a deal and make it happen, and it seems like a worthwhile pursuit for them.
