Pat McAfee made a clear demand to Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix amid a 9-2 season in which the Broncos have beaten strong opponents such as the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. As successful as he's been in his second season, Nix has taken unnecessary hits, which McAfee wants him to avoid.

During an appearance on Friday's episode of "The Pat McAfee Show," the quarterback was exhorted to take better care of his body during games. McAfee went NSFW (not safe for work) to tell him he needs to stop taking big hits.

"You guys need to stop taking hits, ok?" McAfee said. "You big, athletic guys. 'Hey, we're super athletic.' Ok, get your a** out of bounds or get down, because our league depends on you. My happiness comes from NFL football, and you a**holes, you super athletic quarterbacks, let's just not be as alpha all the time, let's just not take hits, 'cause we need you. We need you out there. Alright, you got that?"

Nix agreed with McAfee's sentiment and let him know he doesn't like being hit.

"I got it," Nix said. "And trust me, there's nobody that wants to avoid these big shots more than me."

Bo Nix has had a solid 2025 season, going 237 of 387 for 2,421 yards and 18 touchdowns in 11 games. He has gotten a lot of punishment, too, getting sacked 12 times. The Broncos look like a legit contender to win the AFC West, but also put an end to the Chiefs' reign in the conference.

Bo Nix explains how Broncos have been able to win close games in 2025

Besides being berated by Pat McAfee, Bo Nix also broke down why the Broncos have been able to win close games this campaign. For Nix, it comes from added confidence.

"I think last year, we didn't expect, or think we could find a way, to win at the end," Nix said, via Yahoo Sports. "Then, after a couple of games that just went our way, we're like, 'Hey guys, we got this; we can win these close games.'"

He credited specific group positions and players for the team's success.

"We got a really good defense that we can lean on, we've got offensive players that are going to make plays when the time comes, and [kicker] Will Lutz has done a great job in crunch time."

The Broncos will clash against the Washington Commanders in Week 13 in prime time.
