Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in unlikely tie with Red Sox fan favorite on all-time MLB leaderboard

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. still has a long way to go in what has already been a prolific career for the Toronto Blue Jays.

That doesn't mean there isn't time to take stock of just where he's starting to put his name in baseball history.

One relatively modern way to do that is to look at OPS -- Vladdy won't have the counting stats yet of guys who played much longer, but the rate can tell a lot of the story.

And before action on Tuesday, a live look at the all-time MLB OPS leaderboard reveals Guerrero in a tie for 144th.

A tie seems quite unlikely, given that these OPS numbers are ranked to four decimal places.

But there Vladdy is at .8606 -- the same total as long-time Boston Red Sox fan favorite Kevin Youkilis.

Unlike counting stat leaderboards, there's no guarantee of a move up these charts, but the names right above Guerrero include Jesse Burkett, Darryl Strawberry, Norm Cash, John Olerud, J.D. Martinez and the still active Kyle Tucker.

Right below Vladdy is a legendary player who is less known: Biz Mackey.

Mackey is a Hall of Famer who played catcher and the infield in the Negro Leagues, debuting in 1920. For his career, he was a .328 hitter.

That's just a history lesson for fun. Mackey was an all-timer.

Guerrero has the potential to be an all-time great, too. He's got a $500 million contract with the Blue Jays to be just that.
