The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a new pitcher in a trade late Tuesday.
MLB.com's Christina De Nicola reported that the Blue Jays would be acquiring Robinson Piña from the Miami Marlins in exchange for Colby Martin.
Piña is 26 and just made his MLB debut on Friday. He threw an inning, allowing a solo homer to Austin Riley but getting the other three batters he faced out.
Miami then immediately designated Piña for assignment.
On the season at Triple-A Jacksonville, Piña had a 3.47 ERA in 57 innings.
He has all his options remaining, so the Blue Jays can shuttle him back and forth between Triple-A Buffalo and Toronto.

The Blue Jays had to give up Martin to get Piña.
Martin had a 1.61 ERA in Low-A this season as a 24-year old, which on its surface wouldn't be that impressive.
But Martin played infield at Southeastern University before converting to pitcher, so his growth has exponential potential if everything goes well.
He's got a long path to the big leagues ahead, but it doesn't really hurt the Marlins to give him a shot.
The Blue Jays felt it was worth giving up on that project to add another talented arm in Piña to potentially help out in the majors at some point this season.
