The Toronto Blue Jays opened the 2026 MLB season in style.
They won in walk-off fashion on their Opening Day. Then they walked-it-off again on Saturday. And on Sunday, they capped off a series sweep of the Athletics.
In the process, they did something better than any team had ever done in MLB history.
The Blue Jays had a better strikeout differential for a three-game series than any club ever, according to ESPN's Paul Hembekides.
What that means? The difference in times the Blue Jays struck out at the plate, versus how many A's they struck out from the mound, was the widest gap in the history of baseball.
The Blue Jays struck out 50 Athletics.
The Blue Jays' hitters were struck out just 17 times.

Dylan Cease led the charge with 12 strikeouts in his Blue Jays debut.
Kevin Gausman punched out 11 on Opening Day, and Eric Lauer K'd 9 on Sunday. Jeff Hoffman had 6 punchouts in two innings out of the bullpen, too.
At the plate, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. didn't strike out at all in 10 at bats. Alejandro Kirk, Andres Gimenez and Ernie Clement only struck out once.
Kazuma Okamoto and George Springer were the "worst offenders" at the plate, with four strikeouts apiece.
Regardless, this is something Toronto has done well in the past, and it's safe to expect it to continue this season. They've got strikeout pitchers, and they've got hitters with immense bat-to-ball ability. It's a great combination.
