The Toronto Blue Jays have re-signed a 27-year-old reliever with parts of two years of Major League experience.

According to Baseball America's Matt Eddy, the AL East club has agreed to a minor-league contract with right-hander Lazaro Estrada.

Since signing with the Blue Jays as an international free agent in 2018, Estrada has spent his entire career with the organization.

He's thrown 20.1 innings across parts of two MLB seasons, posting a 6.64 ERA with 19 strikeouts and 11 walks.

Estrada missed two and a half months with a right shoulder impingement, and he was designated for assignment and opted for minor league free agency toward the end of last season.

"The Blue Jays have used him only as a reliever (occasionally in a bulk pitcher role) during his limited time in the majors, and it would appear as though Estrada will again be used as a depth option to be called up when the Jays are in need of a fresh arm," Mark Polishuk of MLB Trade Rumors wrote.

In 133.1 innings at Triple-A Buffalo, Estrada owns a 5.06 ERA with a 23.25% strikeout rate and 7.88% walk rate.

The Blue Jays can option Estrada up to five times during the 2027 season, and he's likely to start the year at Triple-A.
