Blue Jays listed among possible fits for former Cy Young Award winner

The Toronto Blue Jays have some work to do this offseason after finishing 74-88 and falling to last place in the American League East in 2024.

They have some money to spend too if they plan on getting back into contention in 2025.

One area that could use a little work is their starting rotation. Pitchers such as Chris Bassitt and Kevin Gausman are aging, and they are going to need an extra presence in their rotation.

According to Katie Woo and Will Sammon of The Athletic, they could be in the mix for left-hander and former Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell.

"The Dodgers had heavy interest in Snell last season and came close to trading for him. The expectation is that they will have interest once more.

Depending on Juan Soto's market, the Yankees could be in the mix as well. One industry source also floated the Blue Jays and Rangers as potential suitors, depending on cost."

Toronto would be wise to try and pursue Snell and see if they can bounce back into contention next year. The left-hander got off to a bad start and even landed on the injured list, but he turned things around in the second half and ultimately finished with a 3.12 ERA in his 20 starts.

Snell is also a pitcher that has proven his worth in the postseason, having helped the Tampa Bay Rays get to the World Series in 2020 and guiding the San Diego Padres to the NLCS in 2022.

It's unlikely that the Giants will re-sign him, but the Blue Jays could get their hands on an ace and have a strong rotation heading into 2025.
