Hitting is about balance and weight transfer. Do it just right, and get the barrel to the ball, and good things happen.
Or in the case of Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jesus Sanchez, fall all over the place during the swing and somehow hit a 406-foot home run anyway.
That's what he did on Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. Have a look:
Normally, when hitters swing so hard that they stumble, they only hit air. Jesús Sánchez swung out of his shoes, and it resulted in a 406-foot home run. pic.twitter.com/0NXgNK6ex6

There's a lot of takeaways here.
The first is Sanchez's immense talent. It's why the Blue Jays traded Joey Loperfido to the Houston Astros this offseason to acquire him. They were taking a shot on his upside.
Then there's the evidence that MLB hitters are just different. They operate on a totally different physical level than the rest of us.
There's also the reality that a clip can be slightly misleading. The photo at the top of this article is Sanchez essentially at the point of contact. There, you can see his mechanics were pretty much on point.
Yes, he swung hard and intense enough to almost fall over after. But he was where he wanted to be at the point of contact.
Sanchez is special, and this home run was wild -- the Blue Jays will simply hope he can keep hitting more of them, no matter what his feet are doing.
