Charles McAdoo loves Star Wars.
Like, really loves Star Wars.
The Toronto Blue Jays rookie, who made his MLB debut on Friday and homered in a win over the Baltimore Orioles, is a huge fan of the popular movie franchise.
Sportsnet's David Singh shared this anecdote on X on Saturday:
"Charles McAdoo is apparently a huge Star Wars fan. When he joined the Blue Jays and had to sign his contract, John Schneider handed him a pen. McAdoo declined it and pulled out a Lightsaber pen."
And here's the kicker, also noted by Singh: Friday was Star Wars Night at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
MORE: MLB had four walk-off home runs in the same night
That's right -- this Star Wars fan got to play his first big league game on Star Wars Night, and he launched a home run.
The Force was with him, for sure.
It wasn't an easy start to the night for McAdoo, who seemed to be pressing right from the outset when he swung and missed on the first two pitches he saw, both fastballs way up and out of the zone, before striking out to end that first at bat.
He swung at another pitch out of the zone to pop out on the first offering he saw his second time to the plate.
But his third time up, with a man on, McAdoo launched a fly ball deep to right-center that left the yard for a two-run home run that sparked a Blue Jays comeback.
He'll remember the night for so many reasons, but hopefully he also got joy out of the Star Wars passion in the ballpark, because it surely overlapped with something he cares greatly about, too.
