The Columbus Blue Jackets didn't get the news they would've wanted on Boone Jenner's injury.
Jenner was hurt on Tuesday against the Seattle Kraken. On Thursday, Blue Jackets head coach Dean Evason provided an update.
The news: The injury is "not short term," Evason said.
Jenner, 32, is off to a strong start to the season. Through 16 games, he had seven assists and three goals.
His injury has been classified as an upper-body injury. He had played his first shift of the second period on Tuesday night before leaving.
The Blue Jackets are on the ice on Thursday night against the Edmonton Oilers, presumably without Jenner.
Jenner has been hit by injuries in pretty much every recent season. He hasn't played 70 games in a campaign since 2019-20. Last season, Jenner played 56 games.
The Blue Jackets do return a center back to the ice on Thursday when Kent Johnson returns. He hadn't played in the Kraken game, but has five points in 15 games this season.
Columbus stays home for a pair more games that could also come without Jenner. They host the New York Rangers on Saturday and then the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.
