Last year, bloodsports unleashed their sufficiently eerie debut album Anything Can Be A Hammer, which earned them a spot on our list of the best new acts of 2025. We haven't heard from the New York band since — until now. Today, just in time for Halloween, they're back with a monster of a song called "Ten Thousand Feet."

"'Ten Thousand Feet' was a very collaborative effort; we all wrote parts of it at different times or just by jamming out sections and putting it together as a group, so it feels very rewarding to have it finally out in the world especially after playing it live for the last year or so," the group explains. "Lyrically, this song is an attempt to explain a certain malaise or boredom that I was feeling at the time, and the sort of restless, unknowing, bird's-eye view anger that comes with that, referencing a story about a baseball player named Joe Sprinz, which we encourage everyone to read if they get the chance."

bloodsports, much like other Stereogum faves Truth Club, have a knack for capturing the creeping feeling of dread and stretching it out into an extensive, haunted house-like song. You never know what's around the corner, but you're just waiting for someone or something to jump out at you. The anticipation, though, is the most frightening part. Enter at your own risk below.
