Blockbuster Broncos-Lions trade prediction lands projected $59 million dynamic receiver for Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos will be looking to build off a successful 2024 campaign, where the team posted a 10-7 record and appeared in the postseason for the first time since 2015.

Denver has added a few nice pieces to both sides of the ball this offseason, but one position that could still use some work is wide receiver. Courtlandt Sutton is phenomenal and built a nice connection with quarterback Bo Nix last year, but acquiring another capable playmaker for Nix should be priority.

Devaughn Vele, Marvin Mims, or rookie third-round pick Pat Bryant could step up and be solid No.2 receivers for Denver, but Athlon Sports' Coby Leibowitz predicts the Broncos will pull off a blockbuster trade for Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams.

"Williams is nearing the end of his contract, and the Lions already have a lot of money invested in Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Aidan Hutchinson, Kerby Joseph and others. If they don’t want to pay Williams, they could save a lot of money and still add talent by making this trade. The Broncos should try to make a move before training camp to give Williams and Nix as much time as possible to build chemistry," Leibowitz wrote.

Williams still has two years left on his deal, but the Lions may not have enough money to give all of their star players lucrative extensions. Spotrac projects Williams' next contract will be worth $59 million over three seasons, which is an average annual salary of $19.7 million.

If Detroit decides to move on from the speedy receiver, Denver would be an ideal landing spot. Williams would form an electric duo with Sutton and give Nix a dynamic deep threat who can stretch the field and also create yards after the catch.

Additionally, Williams is still young and developing, so he can continue to grow alongside Nix and become the cornerstones of the offense. The Alabama product posted his first 1,000-yard campaign in 2024.

Though a trade to Denver could unlock the next level of Williams' game, it's still hard for us to envision a scenario where he isn't on the Lions in 2025. However, his future in the Motor City after this season could be up in the air, depending on his performance this year and Detroit's cap situation.
