Jannik Sinner recently disclosed that he had thought about giving his mother Siglinde a 'last chance' at this year's Wimbledon Championships in terms of attending his matches. According to Sinner, this thought stemmed from Siglinde attending the finals spanning the Italian Open and the French Open, both of which featured the ATP star. Subsequently, several tennis fans ridiculed the reigning World No. 1 over his take.
At both the Italian Open in Rome and the French Open in Paris, Sinner was defeated in the tournaments' respective finals by rival Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian's mother Siglinde attended both matches, and when she told her son that she would attend the Wimbledon final as well, he got concerned about potentially losing the match because of his mother's presence. In a recent interview with Sky Sports Italy, Sinner said:
"In Rome she came to the tournament, she didn't watch any match but she was at the final. I lost it. In Paris she was there, I lost it. When she told me she would come to Wimbledon, I didn't tell her, but I wanted to tell her that it's her last chance!"Many fans on X (formerly Twitter) proceeded to ridicule Jannik Sinner for even considering the prospect of keeping his mother Siglinde away from his matches.
"Blaming his mom for losing two finals in a row is crazy if i was Siglinde i would have whooped his ginger a**," one fan wrote. "Jannik Sinner: No, I’m not superstitious at all. Also Jannik Sinner: LOL, so I actually almost banned the woman who birthed and raised me from watching my matches, just because I got stung by a bee twice when she was in the general vicinity of the tennis court, even though I had a perfectly good racquet in my hand that I could have swatted it away with myself. #justiceforsiglinde," commented another. "“I’m not superstitious” but would tell his mother to stop coming to his matches because he lost twice while she was there," another fan chimed in. "No son would say this to his mother he's so DAUGHTER," joked one. "Blaming mama Sinner is crazy she suffered more than Jesus," added another, referring to the rollercoaster of emotions Siglinde experienced during the 2025 French Open final. "Baby it’s not her fault she was fighting her own battle," weighed in yet another fan.Jannik Sinner conquered Wimbledon 2025 after snapping losing streak against Carlos Alcaraz

Unlike the French Open final, where Sinner failed to convert match points before Alcaraz ultimately emerged triumphant, at SW19, the Italian was far more ruthless.
Ultimately, Sinner won the Wimbledon final 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to register a title triumph at the grass Major for the first time in his career. In doing so, the Italian also broke Alcaraz's stranglehold at the tournament. The Spaniard clinched the Wimbledon title following wins over Novak Djokovic spanning the men's singles finals of the 2023 and 2024 editions.
The result also helped Sinner snap a five-match losing streak against Alcaraz. They met again in the final of the US Open, where the Spaniard came out on top. Both men are set to soon be in action at the year-end ATP Finals in Turin, Italy.
