The cinematic trailer for Black Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum was released on November 21, 2025. The brand new trailer shows Richtofen, Maya, Dempsey, and all the other crew members taking on an army of ravagers as they wreak havoc in space. Astra Malorum is a map set on an asteroid shaped like a skull. The Dark Aether's secrets will unfold further as players receive a new DLC map for the Zombies game mode.

This article will break down the Black Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum trailer, which is slightly over two minutes long.

Black Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum: Trailer breakdown

Astra Malorum roughly translates to the words 'Stars of Evil' in Latin, which is fitting for a Zombies map set in space.

In the main quest's Easter Egg ending of Ashes of the Damned, the crew is confronted by a strange, hovering cosmic entity that seemingly belongs to the Dark Aether. She informs the group that the Warden has harvested a part of their essence for his benefit. After defeating the boss, the Shadowsmith returns Maya and Dempsey's stolen essence to them, restoring them to their fully human versions.

The cosmic entity then returns, promising to hide the crew away from the Warden in a pocket, somewhere in space. This is where the Black Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum map comes into play. As the trailer begins, we see the entity eject the crew into space, all aboard Ol' Tessie.

Richtofen handles the wheel as they drive through space, being chased by Ravagers riding comets. Dempsey, now restored, uses the DG2 wonderweapon to take down any enemies closing in on them. Meanwhile, Takeo cuts them down in close range with his sword.

Weaver knocks off an enemy climbing the car's door and then destroys him with a shotgun. At this point, a meteor slams into the car, almost tossing Nikolai into the dead of space. However, he is caught by Elisabeth, who rescues him by pulling him back to safety. In the background, we see Takeo jump on top of a meteor close by.

Finally, the team notices a massive asteroid approaching them in the Black Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum trailer. To avoid getting hit, Richtofen presses the 'Eco Mode' button on Ol' Tessie, which ejects the thrusters on its sides. The thrusters then act as rockets and destroy the rock, saving the crew from collision.

Without any way to maneuver the car in space, the crew falls into the skull-shaped asteroid, crushing two Ravagers as they arrive on Astra Malorum. Ol' Tessie looks rather beat up, and as Richtofen gets out of the car, he can be seen holding the steering wheel in his hands. This is a strong indicator that Ol' Tessie will not be functional for the Black Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum map.

The team arrives at a seemingly abandoned Planetorium. Interestingly, the crew entered the map by going into the mouth of the skull-shaped asteroid. They were then ejected upwards to its surface, i.e., its head. This may indicate an interesting gravitational mechanic on the new map. However, so far, there is very little information available.
