Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott may have waited just a bit too long.
The CBS broadcast crew noted that McDermott threw a challenge flag midway through the fourth quarter on Sunday. It came after a third-down conversion on a pass by the Dolphins from Tua Tagovailoa to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.
The Dolphins ran the next play, and the officials never whistled it dead to go to review.
The Bills weren't given the right to challenge. The implication is that McDermott's red flag came out too late.

It was a bit costly, too. On replay, it looked like the pass should've been ruled incomplete as the ball dropped to the ground between Westbrook-Ikhine's hands.
The Dolphins ran a couple more plays, and on the third play after the non-granted challenge, Tagovailoa threw an interception.
So the Bills got the ball back, but with more than an extra minute going off the clock.
In a game they trailed 16-6, they couldn't afford that extra time lost.
But when Josh Allen fumbled on the next possession, it turned out it may not have mattered anyway.
