The Buffalo Bills should be chasing an upgrade at the wide receiver position.
Josh Allen deserves the help, and new head coach (and still the play caller) Joe Brady could use the boost.
There are multiple high-level wide receivers at least conceptually on the trading block this offseason, including the Jaguars' Brian Thomas Jr.
The Bills might have Keon Coleman on the block at their own end, which could create a WR swap of sorts.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell proposes a deal between Jacksonville and Buffalo that moves Thomas for Coleman. He adds that the Bills would have to send their first-rounder in the upcoming draft to the Jags in exchange for their fifth-rounder.
That adds up, certainly, as Thomas is a big upgrade on Coleman.
Thomas didn't have as good a 2025 as he did in his standout rookie season, but he's a proven top-notch wideout.
"Thomas would immediately step in as Josh Allen's No. 1 receiver," Barnwell writes. "Crucially, for a team that's $10 million over the projected cap before making adjustments this offseason, Thomas' contract is a bargain for the next few years. He'll make $2.1 million in 2026 and $2.8 million in 2027 before a potential fifth-year option in 2028, affording the Bills multiple seasons of cost control. Even if Thomas only settles in somewhere between his 2024 and 2025 form, he would offer significant surplus value."
Jacksonville, which has strong depth at wide receiver, would get the chance to rehabilitate Coleman's career after a bumpy sophomore season in Buffalo.
That first-rounder sent away by the Bills would be the No. 26 pick. Buffalo could also opt to stay in that spot and target a wide receiver there.
Thomas, though, is more proven, and getting a guy like him could be the best move in the long run for Allen and company.
