Bills' Sean McDermott has interesting take on Keon Coleman vs. Patriots

16 hours ago 2

To say that the 2025 season has been a roller coaster for Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman would be an understatement.

From inconsistent performances on and off the field, it has been a challenging time for Coleman, especially since coming back from being benched.

And in the Bills' 35-31 win over the New England Patriots, Coleman didn't have a single reception, and now marks the third game in a row where he hasn't passed 16 receiving yards.

That isn't ideal for a player many view as Josh Allen's soon-to-be top weapon.

But what did head coach Sean McDermott think of Keon's performance in New England?

"Overall, the wide receivers, I would say, all in the same boat a little bit, wanting to get them more involved, wanting to get them going a little bit more than we've been able to," McDermott said. "Having said that, again, it's important that the ball goes where the open player is.

"So, we had a couple opportunities yesterday, some taken advantage of, some we want back. I know those guys are going to continue to work hard at it. Keon being one of them as well."

Coleman needs big finish to regular season

Given the Bills are a run-heavy offense with James Cook, it is a little hard to expect huge numbers from Buffalo's receivers, with Khalil Shakir their leader with only 650 yards through 14 games.

But for Keon, he's only had one game of over 50 yards in 2025, and that was in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens (112 yards). Since then, he's had six games of 20 yards or under (his last three games), and five under 46 yards, so there hasn't been big production as a whole from Coleman.

Given the Bills' situation, with playoffs around the corner, there needs to be more production from the passing game, and Keon is a big part of that.

It's been a year to forget in many ways for Coleman, but it can all change if he has a strong finish to the season.
