Bills named possible landing spot for former $110 million defender in free agency

The Buffalo Bills' list of players on injured reserve is quite lengthy and includes three different defensive linemen.

Over the course of this season, Buffalo has placed DeWayne Carter, Ed Oliver and T.J. Sanders on the list due to injury. Sanders is expected back soon, but Oliver is expected to be out until the playoffs and Carter is out for the season.

Thanks to those injuries, the Bills' defensive line hasn't played up to snuff, as evidenced by the team ranking 30th against the run through nine games.

In order to remedy their situation along the defensive line, FanSided's Mark Powell suggests the Bills sign ex-Las Vegas Raiders defensive lineman Christian Wilkins, who remains available in free agency.

The Bills are getting healthier on defense, but their interior defensive line has been a point of frustration with fans in part because they can't stay on the field. If Buffalo is going to actually challenge the Chiefs atop the AFC, they'll need depth options like Wilkins who would be stars elsewhere.

Wilkins rose to prominence during his days with the Miami Dolphins and parlayed his career-best showing in 2023 into a $110 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024.

However, things did not come close to panning out for him there.

Wilkins' first season with the Raiders was cut short after five games due to a foot injury. He was then cut loose by Las Vegas during the 2025 offseason after the Raiders weren't thrilled with how he was attacking his rehab.

But that wasn't the only issue, as Wilkins reportedly caused a problem in the locker room after he kissed an unnamed teammate on the head, which didn't sit well with the player and that incident was partly to blame for the Raiders parting ways with Wilkins, according to ESPN.

It remains to be seen if Wilkins is even healthy at this point, and even if he is, the Bills would have to weigh signing a player who could cause a problem in their locker room.

That said, if Wilkins can be had for cheap with zero strings attached, it would be worth it to take a swing on him, as he could potentially come close to filling the void left by Oliver.

And, if Wilkins plays at a high level, a duo of Wilkins and Oliver would no doubt improve Buffalo's chances of getting to the Super Bowl.
