Bills' Josh Allen details 'confidence' in WR room after no trade deals

3 hours ago 2

The Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen's receiver room have been a topic of hot discussion ever since Stefon Diggs was moved on.

The narrative has been that Allen needs a bona fide No. 1 weapon, but last year, Josh won MVP without one, and now, the Bills are 6-2, having just beaten the Kansas City Chiefs in a game where Allen had just three incompletions, going 23 of 26 for 273 yards.

Is that good? It seems good.

And when talking about his receiver room that consists of Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Curtis Samuel, Tyrell Shavers, and Elijah Moore, Allen's confidence in that group hasn't wavered.

“I got so much confidence,” Allen said. “I think there's so many different things that we can continue to evolve in our offense. Everybody's got their own skill set that we need to continue to utilize at a higher level. That starts with myself of making sure that I'm getting the ball to our guys when they're open.

"Saw it last game. We had 10 different completions, I believe to 10 different targets last week. That's what we're going to need to do. We're going to need to utilize everybody.”

Bills' 'everybody eats mantra' powering title hunt

Last season, Joe Brady's mantra powered the Bills to an AFC Championship appearance, and Allen had the ball in his hands down late in the fourth quarter to go and win the game against the Chiefs, but he couldn't get it done.

Now this season, at 6-2, and averaging 29.4 points per game (ranks fourth), it is again proving that it doesn't matter who Allen's receivers are, Brady's scheme and style mean that most can flourish in his offense.

Yes, it helps when running back James Cook is again having a Pro Bowl year, but the weapons at Allen's disposal, if we rank them against the NFL's best, likely wouldn't stack up too well. But that's just fine with them because it's been proven that Allen doesn't need stars. He can make it work with anyone.

Is his confidence in this receiver room misplaced? Some think so.
