Bills' James Cook knows who real heroes are after career-day vs. Panthers

Word has it that Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is still running in Carolina.

The two-time Pro Bowler rushed for a whopping 216 yards and two touchdowns from his 19 carries in the 40-9 demolition of the Carolina Panthers as Joe Brady's team got their groove back. Eyeing a three-game losing streak, the Bills put the Panthers to the sword after a disjointed first half, scoring 21 points in the third quarter to secure the win.

And Cook, who had a 64-yard touchdown run, knows who to thank for what was a career-high 216 rushing yards at Bank of America Stadium.

“First thing I want to thank my O-line, without them, I couldn't even run,” Cook said. “So, just thanking them guys for just always having my back and just opening up lanes for me to run.”

Cook the driving force for Bills offense

With James' 216 rush yards in the bank, he has now moved to outright second in the NFL with 753, behind only Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts (850).

In four of his seven games, Cook has rushed for over 100 yards, and in those games, he has had 19 or more attempts. Ironically, Buffalo has won all four of those games, so the game plan seems rather simple going forward, doesn't it?

Give James at least 19 rushing attempts, he rushes for over 100 yards, and the Bills win.

As Cook stated, the offensive line has to take a lot of credit for opening up the running lanes for him to scoot through, and against Carolina, there were gigantic holes everywhere as James zigged and zagged his way to a career-best day.
